751-5102-00LBiogeochemical Modeling of Agroecosystems2 KP2GJ. Lee, M. Necpalova, A. Hofmann, J. Six
KurzbeschreibungThis class provides an introduction to biogeochemical modeling primarily in the context of crop production systems. It covers the basic steps of modeling process. The topical focus is on soil processes. Plant growth and development is included as a side topic. The course consists of lectures and modeling exercises.
LernzielThe focus during the modeling exercise sessions is to understand the main DayCent model components and provide information on model calibration, validation, and sensitivity/uncertainty analysis.
Inhalt- Introduction to biogeochemical models and modeling
- DayCent model
- Spatial and temporal scales in modeling
- Controls on biogeochemical processes
- Modeling plant growth and development (DayCent)
- Modeling soil organic matter and nutrient dynamics (DayCent)
- Modeling soil greenhouse gas emissions (DayCent)
- Model calibration
- Model testing and evaluation
- Sensitivity analysis
- Uncertainty analysis
Voraussetzungen / BesonderesStudents signing up for this course should have a strong interest in modeling.
