Objective
Introduction to kinematics, statics and dynamics of rigid bodies and systems.
Content
Basic notions: velocity, rigid body, force, couple, power; kinematics of rigid bodies. Statics: static equivalence, force-couple system, center of forces, centroid, principle of virtual power, equilibrium, constraints, statics, friction. Dynamics: acceleration, inertial force, d’Alembert’s Principle, Newton's Second Law, equations of motion of rigid bodies, principles of linear and angular momentum.
