ContentLe cours a pour objectif principal d'améliorer la maîtrise du français écrit par l'appropriation de règles grammaticales et de règles d'usage qui, sur le plan textuel, assurent au moins en partie la correction des énoncés, et ceci pour quelques chapitres difficiles du français. Il propose une approche descriptive de moyens linguistiques qui permettent d'améliorer la rédaction de textes académiques (compte rendu, synthèse) ou d'écrits administratifs en général (lettre de motivation), ainsi que des exercices ciblés.

Les points étudiés sont notamment les temps du passé, l'ordre des mots dans la phrase, la cohésion textuelle, ainsi que le discours rapporté. Ils sont abordés à l'aide de matériel authentique et sans recours systématique à des exercices de drill.

ContentA variety of texts, including poetry, short stories, and one short novel, are analyzed. Classwork is interactive, with pair, small group, and plenary discussions. Writing tasks are designed to help students produce coherent and well-structured texts. Lexical work helps students to increase their range of vocabulary and allow them to apply freshly acquired vocabulary in speaking and writing.

Selected Academic English features are included to add value to the course to meet standard entrance requirements by leading universities and colleges worldwide.
ObjectiveParticipants should already have reached a level of C1 (advanced), as defined in the Council of Europe Global Scale. The course is also open to participants whose level is above C1.
The course aims to train and develop linguistic skills at Mastery level, with a focus on formal and informal lexis, on listening and oral communication skills, increasing fluency, accuracy and complexity of spoken language; writing well-structured descriptive texts and argumentative essays, with the aim to fulfill the language requirements for study at an English speaking university or follow University Master Courses held in English.

Gli aspetti e i momenti della cultura italiana contemporanea presentati variano da semestre a semestre. I testi audio-visivi e scritti utilizzati sono di diverso genere, p.e. film, cronaca, letteratura, saggistica. Sulla base di questo materiale verranno create le attività orali e scritte. AbstractThe course is aimed for participants having passed level B1.2 at least and for those who know and correctly use all indicative tenses, as well as the subjunctive in its present and perfect forms. On the other hand, they should be able to make themselves fluently understood in every day conversations and read intermediate level texts.
ObjectiveThe course aims towards integrating grammar and oral/written communication. We will present new grammar topics and introduce them into the oral practice. Emphasis is given to vocabulary through texts about contemporary issues.
ContentThe most important grammatical topic is the past tenses of the subjunctive in subordinate and independent structures, as well as its alternance with indicative. Free and directed discussion will be enhanced. We read diverse text forms from Spanish and Latin American authors.

AbstractThe participants have at least an acquired B2 level. This means, they are able to take part in conversations of a medium level of difficulty, understand 60-75% of the audio-visual and written media, write texts about contemporary issues and defend their points of view using opinion structures.
ObjectiveThe course aims to introduce a specific thematic in Spanish-speaking regions or countries through the cinema, taking into account the geopolitical and cultural spectrum of the Spanish language. It also aims the participant to get familiarized with images, customs, dialogs and vocabulary, carrying out an observation, analysis, and comment of these elements.
ContentWe focus our attention on visual observation, development of ideas, presentation, and interaction. Some other elements worked are glossaries of different linguistic regions. Some basic elements of movie-making are presented. Presentations are to be prepared in autonomy, in a very close collaboration with the lecturer.
Lecture notesThe lecturer will make the material available, coming the beginning of semester. Films can be viewed at the Selbstlernzentrum.

Modern Greek III covers level A2.1 of the Global European Framework and is designed for students who have already attended courses I and II at the Sprachenzentrum UNI/ETHZ, or whose language proficiency is equivalent to level A1.2.
ObjectiveExtensive vocabulary work (approx. 400 new words); reading of elementary texts; additional practice through speaking only Greek in class; improving listening comprehension; writing short essays (about the past and the future, describing events and personal experience). Grammar work will focus on verbs (simple past, simple future, subjunctive and imperative; active and passive voice).
ContentChallenging everyday situations; discussion of specific topics (eg. describing pictures and photographs, talking about daily chores); elementary listening comprehension practice (dialogues, talking about events, advertisements); reading comprehension (advertisements, cooking recipies, poems).

AbstractThis course is the first of a two part Swedish-course, run over two semesters. The aim of the course is to achieve basic language skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing (Level A1). The focus is based on oral skills.
ObjectiveThe participants learn how to express themselves adequately in different everyday situations. Everyday conversation will be worked on and practised. The students will work on basic grammar structures und basic pronunciation.
LiteratureWe are working with A1+A2 Textbok (ISBN 978-3-12-527991-9) and Rivstart A1+A2 Övningsbok (ISBN 978-3-12-527992-6); publisher: Natur och Kultur, Stockholm 2014.
