551-1700-00L Introduction to Flow Cytometry
Semester | Frühjahrssemester 2024 |
Dozierende | F. Mair, M. Kisielow, M. Kopf |
Periodizität | jährlich wiederkehrende Veranstaltung |
Lehrsprache | Englisch |
Kurzbeschreibung | This course provides a broad introduction to flow cytometry. We will cover the working principles of cytometry instrumentation, and essential aspects of experimental design and data analysis. Fluorescence-based cytometry (conventional and full spectrum) as well as mass cytometry will be covered. The format is a lecture course enriched by a visit to the ETH Flow Cytometry Core Facility. |
Lernziel | The objective of this course is to provide participants with a strong understanding of the basic principles underlying flow cytometry, equipping them to be self-sufficient for the systematic design, execution and analysis of cytometry experiments. |
Inhalt | The course is centered on explaining the working principles of cytometry instrumentation (conventional, full spectrum and mass cytometry) and associated data analysis. In detail, we will cover the following topics: - Components of Flow Cytometry Instrumentation - Signal processing - Fluorochromes, compensation, and spectral unmixing - Visualization, gating and analysis of data - Fluorescent panel design - Cytometry assays: immunophenotyping, cell signaling, etc. - Cell sorting - Mass cytometry - Computational data analysis techniques |
Skript | Updated handouts will be provided during the class. |
